The New York Racing Association announce that the paid attendance for Travers Stakes Day will be capped at 50,000.

This does not mark the first time that NYRA has capped the attendance for Travers Day. Last year they capped the attendance at 50,000 after it was announced that American Pharoah, the sport's first Triple Crown winner in nearly four decades, would be taking part in the race.

"The fan response to last year's Travers was overwhelmingly positive," said NYRA CEO and President Chris Kay. "As a result, we will continue to cap attendance for the comfort and convenience of our guests.

While there are no horses with the "rockstar" status that American Pharoah had, there are plenty of well known horses that are probable to enter the Travers Stakes (GI). The list includes Preakness Stakes (GI) and Haskell Invitational (GI) winner Exaggerator, Creator and Destin the top two finishers in the Belmont Stakes, and multiple graded stakes winner Gun Runner, among others.

The Travers Stakes is only one grade one on a card that includes a total of six grade ones. A card that contains so many prestigious races is bound to draw a lot of star power, which would resonate well will the fans.

"Travers is a blockbuster day and one of the must-see events of the Saratoga season," Kay said. "Over the past several years, we've witnessed growing demand among fans who want to experience this tremendous day of racing." Currently all tickets for reserve seating, dining and hospitality are sold out. The only tickets left remaining are general admission tickets for the grandstand and clubhouse, with the inventory on the latter running slim.
